Issues Affecting Dynamics GP Word Template Emailing

Microsoft released a security update for Office in early September. This update interferes with Microsoft Dynamics GP’s functionality to email word documents to vendors or customers. For instance, if you use feature to email purchase orders, remittances, invoices or statements, you will be affected.   Microsoft Word updates are automatically installed on your workstation to ensure property security, so it is important that you address this so that the feature you count on in Dynamics GP work properly.  

There are 2 workaround options to try if you are experiencing any errors when using the Dynamics GP emailing feature of word documents. One option is to change the GP setting to use the PDF option to email the documents to your vendors or customers. The other option is to modify the word templates to match the new security changes that Microsoft made to Office. If you have not experienced any issues or errors related to emailing documents directly from GP, please consider alerting your IT department of the potential for issues if they install the Microsoft updates issued on September 8th or 9th. They may choose to not apply/install that particular update to avoid potential issues with emailing Microsoft Word documents from Dynamics GP.

Microsoft has communicated that they are committed to delivering a fix for Dynamics GP 18.2, GP 2018 and GP 2016 .The GP 18.2 fix is expected to be released early October. Microsoft will continue working to make service packs available for all remaining supported version – GP2016 or later.
