Springpoint Senior Living, a non-sectarian not-for-profit based in Princeton, owns and operates 25 senior communities throughout New Jersey. Its mission is to promote choice, independence and dignity among 4,000+ residents in its full-service, continuing care retirement communities; assisted living communities; and independent living communities.
Springpoint was ready to upgrade its financial management software. Existing programs were inflexible, required time-consuming manual work-arounds, and could not handle billing proficiently. The existing legacy system was not powerful enough to handle the heavy healthcare billing requirements of Springpoint, lacked automated reporting capability, and entailed inefficient manual work-arounds to do financial statements and budgeting. Accounting personnel were spending valuable time double-checking data links, instead of performing data analysis. “We needed better flexibility and standardization across all 25 facilities,” recalls Mary Beth Kopec, VP of Finance.
Intellitec implemented both standard Dynamics GP financial modules and customized elements designed to meet specific Springpoint needs. After a complex implementation that included integrating NetSmart for billing with Microsoft Dynamics GP for general accounting in all 25 Springpoint communities, Kopec oversees a system that provides the flexibility and innovation Springpoint needs:
- Consolidated Chart of Accounts for all 25 communities standardizes general accounting
- Customized FRX reports aggregate data efficiently and speed up financial reporting
- Microsoft Forecaster streamlines budgeting, allows more time for analysis and supports better decision-making
- Safe Pay, a customized accounts payable module, sends encrypted verification files to the bank for an added layer of fraud protection

“Our implementation went very smoothly,” states Kopec, “Intellitec had the ability to see our current workflows and anticipate what functionality we would need. They were focused on the future rather then just implementing the software. Not a lot of companies would think that way.”
Springpoint Senior Living “never stands still” and Dynamics GP has been an asset in the organization’s progress. As new facilites are brought under their organization, they have a easy process in place to add their financial solution.
Flexibility is a key benefit Kopek cites. “We have more flexibility in reporting and analysis. We have improved workflows and processing,” she says. Thanks to GP, Springpoint can “consistently strive towards innovation and standardization.”
